Town Hall News August 21st

Good morning!

On Wednesday, September 10th the Governor Hunt House in Vernon will host Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation this is hosted in partnership with the Brattleboro Chamber of Commerce, this Bizconnect event will be a small business spotlight where participants will hear from local Vernon and Guilford small business owners who have used area resources to further their business growth including Tracy Corriveau from Mama T’s Sweet Spot, Alexa Renaud Clark a local bookkeeper, and more. Participants will have the opportunity to talk in small groups about similar successes and challenges they have faced sparked by the topics brought up by the local presenters.

The Historical Society of Windham County will hold its Annual Meeting on Friday evening, August 22nd at the NewBrook Fire Station (Route 30, Newfane). A short meeting at 5:30 will be followed by a 6:00 traditional community Potluck (bring a dish to share -- drinks will be provided). The evening's program will begin at 6:45 where former Vermont Secretary of Agriculture, Roger Allbee, will speak about his recently published book, Turning the Soil: 250 Years of Vermont Agriculture.  Growing up in Brookline, Vermont on a hilltop dairy farm, Roger has a deep connection to Vermont's agricultural heritage. Come listen as he tells stories about changes in rural communities, farmers' activities, agricultural production, and farm policies over a period of more than 250 years. 

The Windham County Sheriff will be hosting a rabies clinic for dogs and cats. Dogs must be leashed and cats in their carriers. $25.00 per vaccine.  Saturday September 13th 10am -1pm at the Windham County Sheriff’s dept located on Ferry Road in Brattleboro.
