Town Clerk’s notes for July, 2020

By Tim Arsenault, Vernon Town Clerk

Early voting for August 11 primary

It’s already election season. Early ballots for Vermont’s August 11 Primary are now available. Voters will be given ballots for the Democratic, Progressive, and Republican parties.  You may vote on only one, and then send the voted ballot back in one envelope, and send the un-voted ballots back in a separate envelope. Both should be placed in the return mailer, which because of Covid 19 is pre paid.  You can request an early ballot by phone at 257 0292, email clerk@vernonvt.org or go to https://mvp.vermont.gov/.

James Cusick scholarships

There’s still time for college age Vernon residents to apply for the James Cusick annual scholarship . Applications will be e mailed upon request. They must be returned by 5 PM on July 6 to be considered by the scholarship committee.

Dog registration

If you have not registered your dog, please get it done. We have waved late fees because of Covid 19, but Vermont state law says ALL dogs 6 months of age or older must be licensed every year, and they must have a current rabies vaccination certificate at the time of licensing. Contact the Town Clerk’s office to get the licensing done as quickly as possible.
