June 2019 news from Vernon’s churches

Vernon Advent Christian Church

Vernon Advent Christian Church, located at 4554 Fort Bridgman Road at the VT/MA state line, meets every Sunday at 9:15 am for Sunday School classes for all ages. Morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and Youth Group and Intercessory Prayer meet at 6:00 p.m. Adult Bible study begins every Wednesday at 6:30 pm at the church and other Bible study meetings are held throughout the week. The building is handicapped accessible.

On Sunday, June 9, 2019, at our Morning Worship (10:30 AM), our Honduras Mission Team will give the report of their April trip to Honduras to work with the ministry of Christo Salva.  We had five from our church who took this trip from April 22-29: Sue Hanke, Mary Ellen Weston, Dreena Deslaurias, Tara Conway & Pastor Derek Irvine.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry will be open on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday (12th & 26th) from 3:30 to 5 p.m..

Mountain View Seventh-Day Adventist Church

Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 1002 Fort Bridgman Road in Vernon, VT, meets every Saturday at 9:30 AM for Sabbath School classes for all ages. Church service begins at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome. The church building is handicapped accessible. A fellowship meal is provided after the church service.

We will host a two-evening health class on June 12th and 13th at 6:30 p.m. Topics will include vegetarian cooking with an emphasis on incorporating principles of health and healing into one’s life as well as healthy juicing for common diseases. These classes are free and open to the public.

Once again Mountain View will host a Vacation Bible School from June 24 through the 29th.  This year’s theme is “Rescued: Have a swashbuckling good time learning about Jesus.” Children from the ages 4 and up are welcome to attend each evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

For quilters in the community, please join our Bags of Love ministry on June 9th from 9 a.m. to noon.  This ministry sews quilts for children in the Brattleboro area who are removed from homes and placed in foster care.

Prayer Meeting is held on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM at the home of Paul and Mary Miller (5 Tyler Hill Road in Vernon). For more information, call 802-254-9464.

Vernon Union Church

Vernon Union Church is located at 2631 Fort Bridgman Road (next to Vernon Hall), Vernon, VT. It meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for morning worship. The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday and a potluck meal. Sunday School and the nursery are available. Currently each Sunday there is  a guest preacher, with the June schedule as follows:
