It is with great enthusiasm and much excitement that Horizon Early Learning Program, LLC is announcing the opening of a second early education center in Vernon, VT, anticipated spring 2021. Our program expansion is made possible by the “Make Way for Kids” grant awarded to us by Let’s Grow Kids of Vermont.
The new multi-age program will offer up to 16 spaces for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old. This program will be located at 1957 Fort Bridgman Rd., where Horizon was originally established as a home child care in 2012, however the building will no longer be used as a home, but for the sole use of this child care center.
We have already begun to hire some of the staff for this expansion, who are currently working at our Brattleboro location during this year and these pandemic times.
We will be looking to hire an Assistant Director with at least a Teacher Associate credential. This person would eventually become the new site’s sole Director for our multi-site early ed program, but will begin by training and working alongside the owner and current director with full support in the first year of transition to ensure the philosophies and essence of Horizon Early Learning Program carryover successfully to our newest group. We will likely be hiring between 2 and 3 Classroom Teachers (with at least a Teacher Associate qualification) and several Teacher Assistants, as well.
Horizon aims to keep our highly qualified directing and teaching staff well-paid and compensated for the rewarding, but challenging work early ed requires. Hourly and salary contracts are available based upon job title and credentials with room for annual growth based upon performance reviews. Typical hourly range is $12-$17/hour and salary range is $30k – $46k annually depending upon role, credentials and experience.
The program has a current anticipated opening of Spring 2021, aiming for a start date in April or May, but we are acknowledging the need to be flexible during this COVID-19 time. The program will open no later than June 2021!
Those on our wait list will be contacted and residents of Vernon will also have priority as well, as we plan to work with others in our town to create a rich, community-based culture within Vernon, VT.
