Vermont seeking comment about Hud Programs: Each year the State of Vermont - Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Agency of Human Services and Vermont Housing and Conservation Board receives funding for HUD programs through the Consolidated Plan or Annual Plan update process which identifies priorities based on needs from the housing needs assessment, market analysis, citizen and stakeholder input.  At the end of the program year the state is required to report on the performance outcomes outlined from those plans in their Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).  They have completed the FY22 Program Year DRAFT CAPER which includes the outcomes for the following programs: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Housing Trust Fund (HTF) Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG); and Community Development Block Grant CARES Act (CDBG-CV) Emergency Solutions Grant Program CARES Act (ESG-CV).   As a representative for a unit of general local government, please share the attached notice with your local residents including minorities,The state is seeking comments by September 27, 2023.

January 2021 news from Vernon’s churches

Vernon Advent Christian Church

Vernon Advent Christian Church continues to hold Sunday Morning Worship at 10:30 AM, with social distancing & masks required until you are seated. We also live stream this service via Facebook on our public page: Vernon AC Church (public page). We are also live streaming a Bible study on Wednesdays at 7 PM via the same means. There are also Bible studies & a prayer group meeting via Zoom. Those interested should contact the church (accvern@together.net) for information. Our Bread of Life Food Pantry will open on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday, from 3:30 – 5 PM (Jan. 13 and 27). Masks are required, along with social distancing. The Food Pantry is housed at Vernon Advent Christian Church, 4554 Fort Bridgman Road, Vernon, VT. January 10 and 17, at 6 PM, we will be showing the first two episodes of “The Chosen,” on the life & ministry of Jesus Christ. Social distancing will be observed & masks are required as one enters & exits & interacts with others. Once seated, masks are optional.

The Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church

The Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at 1002 Fort Bridgman Road, Vernon, VT.  We have resumed services following the Governor’s guidelines.but with new hours  We will now hold regular Sabbath School classes at 10:15.  The church service will start at 11:00.  There will not be a fellowship dinner until further notice. The church building is handicapped accessible.  Social distancing and masks are required per the Governor’s guidelines.  Our services are also available live on YouTube, Facebook or via our website (www.mvsda.com).
