As you may expect, the Listers office is also affected by the Covid 19 pandemic. We have been advised by the State not to conduct any internal home inspections this spring. Letters were sent out to homeowners who may have had construction, renovations, or addition projects that were not finished at the time of the 2019 reappraisal. The letter basically asks if the project is complete or what is the percentage of completion as of April 1, 2020.
For those who do not respond to the letter, we will do our best to make any necessary adjustment to the assessment from last year. For any changes in value, a notice will be mailed giving the adjusted value and reason for it.
Appeals will also be held in a different manner. All grievances or appeals must be in writing and submitted by mail or email by the close of the grievance day. Those wishing to support their written appeal with verbal testimony will be given the opportunity via telephone or other electronic means that may be possible.
Also, the filing date for the homestead declaration (HS 122) has been extended to July 15,2020.
