Vermont seeking comment about Hud Programs: Each year the State of Vermont - Agency of Commerce and Community Development, Agency of Human Services and Vermont Housing and Conservation Board receives funding for HUD programs through the Consolidated Plan or Annual Plan update process which identifies priorities based on needs from the housing needs assessment, market analysis, citizen and stakeholder input.  At the end of the program year the state is required to report on the performance outcomes outlined from those plans in their Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).  They have completed the FY22 Program Year DRAFT CAPER which includes the outcomes for the following programs: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Housing Trust Fund (HTF) Emergency Solutions Grant Program (ESG); and Community Development Block Grant CARES Act (CDBG-CV) Emergency Solutions Grant Program CARES Act (ESG-CV).   As a representative for a unit of general local government, please share the attached notice with your local residents including minorities,The state is seeking comments by September 27, 2023.


March 2020 news from Vernon’s churches

Vernon Advent Christian Church

Vernon Advent Christian Church, located at 4554 Fort Bridgman Road at the VT/MA state line, meets every Sunday at 9:15 a.m. for Sunday School classes for all ages. Morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m. and Youth Group and Intercessory Prayer meet at 6:00 p.m. Adult Bible study begins every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the church and other Bible study meetings are held throughout the week. The building is handicapped accessible.

On Sunday, March 15, at 6 PM, Vernon AC Church will host an area wide prayer gathering, involving churches in the greater Brattleboro area.  On Sunday, March 29, also at 6 PM, we will show 2 segments of the documentary “Beyond, ‘Is Genesis History?’”  All are welcome.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry will be open the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (11th and 25th). The Food Pantry is housed at Vernon Advent Christian Church, 4554 Fort Bridgman Road, Vernon, VT.

Mountain View Seventh-Day Adventist Church

Mountain View Seventh-day Adventist Church, located at 1002 Fort Bridgman Road, Vernon, VT, meets every Saturday at 9:30 AM for Sabbath School classes for all ages. Church service begins at 11:00 AM. All are welcome. The church building is handicapped accessible. A fellowship meal is provided after the church service.

On Saturday, March 14th, at the 11 o’clock worship hour, Pastor Eliseo Lozano of the Changing People’s Lives ministry will share about their work spreading the gospel in communist countries.  All are welcome to hear the inspirational work taking place in North Korea, Vietnam, Laos and Cuba.

Also, on the evening of the 14th at 6:30 p.m., the church will host a free concert by Hearts In Tune, a Northern New England Gospel Trio with John and Patti Yates and Debi Verrill.  Their concert is called “Living Hope.”

Upcoming in April, Mountain View will host the series The Final Empire.  Times will be announced in next month’s newsletter.

Vernon Union Church

Vernon Union Church is located at 2631 Fort Bridgman Road (next to Vernon Hall), Vernon, VT. It meets every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for morning worship. The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday.  Coffee hour will follow each service. The nursery is available .
